We are the combined research groups of Peter Slater and Vincent Janik here at the School of Biology, St. Andrews. Our research interests cover all aspects of acoustic communication in birds (Slater) and mammals (Janik). While we tend to concentrate on our own animal groups, we have a lot of shared interests and are both involved in projects on either group. We also have very lively interactions with other groups working on animal behaviour (see links). This includes 3 journal clubs on evolution, cognition and acoustic communication as well as regular meetings of the Behaviour Discussion Group, at which those involved in animal behaviour research in Biology and Psychology get together.
