I am interested in the genetic mechanisms underlying sex allocation behaviour in the parasitoid wasp Nasonia vitripennis (Hymenoptera, Apocrita). This study will allow us to begin to unravel how the mechanisms underlying this fascinating behavioural trait are related to its evolution at the phenotypic level.
In addition, I have a background in conservation genetics and am particularly interested in the population biology of the graminivorous sawflies (Hymenoptera, Symphyta). My early research focused on analysing the genetic diversity in populations of the farmland sawfly Dolerus aeneus (below).
