Active research interests

I am interested in life transition phases, particularly their relationship to learning; understanding and supporting learning as a lifelong adventure. I work on: development of transferable skills/employability within HE; self-efficacy and its development/change across the life course; and widening access to higher education.

"education is at the heart of both personal and community development; its mission is to enable each of us, without exception, to develop all our talents to the full and to realise our creative potential, including responsibility for our own lives and achievement of our personal aims." From Learning: The Treasure Within UNESCO 1996.

Footnote. I am a biochemist, who became a genetic epidemiologist and public health researcher. I have always been a teacher, as my siblings will attest. My pet hate is people talking absolute rubbish with absolute confidence.
