Conference location
For more than a thousand years, the town of St Andrews has been a focal point for bishops and kings, saints and martyrs, students and holidaymakers - not to mention the greatest golfers in the world. Set in a spectacular position St Andrews sits between the wooded hills of the Fife countryside, and the combination of dramatic rocky headlands and beautiful sandy beaches of the North Sea coast.
A charming, picturesque royal burgh, the town is a place steeped in history, retaining many important historical sites and preserving the medieval layout of its town centre. An intricate network of streets and lanes around the University, ancient Cathedral and Castle invites exploration. In its early days, St Andrews attracted pilgrims from near and far to pay homage at one of the most important shrines of early Christendom. Since 1410, students from throughout the United Kingdom and around the world have converged on the University of St Andrews, which has grown from humble beginnings as Scotland's first university to assume a place among the world's great institutions of higher learning.
The conference will take place in the Gateway Centre, which is marked with the number 20 on this map. St Andrews is a walking town. As long as you get accommodation that is on the map, you can easily walk to the conference venue each day. Staying at an out-of-town hotel will necessitate some form of transport to and from the conference venue so check with the hotel for shuttle details and other transport options.
