The Scottish Phylogeny Discussion Group (SPDG) meets to discuss phylogeny reconstruction and associated areas of research, including comparative genomics, phylogenomics, population genetics and taxonomy.
Half-day meetings are hosted by different institutions around Scotland. Each meeting has a talk by an invited speaker from around the world, plus several talks by local researchers who are based in Scotland or willing to travel there.
Everyone who attends meetings will be regarded as a member of the SPDG. Members are encouraged (but not forced) to attend all meetings. Local speakers will be drawn from the list of members, and invited to give a talk, approximately one month in advance of the meeting. Expenses are not available for local speakers, but registration is always free.
As a minimum we plan to hold five SPDG meetings, at the following places: the University of St Andrews, the University of Edinburgh, Biomathematics & Statistics Scotland at the Scottish Crop Research Institute, the University of Glasgow, and the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.
Attendance is free but please register in advance. To register, email Christopher Quince cq8u@udcf.gla.ac.uk with subject 'Register SPDG March 2012'. Include any dietary requirements in the text of your email.
