The preparation of the SCANS-II proposal was funded via ASCOBANS.
European LIFE-Nature funding was awarded to the SCANS-II project in August 2004. LIFE-Nature funding is intended for projects that contribute to the implementation of Community nature protection legislation: the “Birds” Directive (79/409/EEC) and the "Habitats" Directive (92/43/EEC).
Twelve countries further support the SCANS-II project either through direct confinancing or as project partners. The University of St. Andrews’ Sea Mammal Research Unit is coordinating the project.
The project end date is 31st December 2006.
