He then undertook postdoctoral training at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada. \u00a0In 2007, he began his own independent research laboratory at the University of St Andrews. He is currently Professor of Neuroscience and Head of the School of Psychology &amp; Neuroscience. His research is focused on deciphering motor control networks of the spinal cord and brainstem. His laboratory also investigates disease mechanisms underlying Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
