However, a limited understanding of molecular pathways mediating the effects of amyloid \u03b2 on synaptic and cognitive function continues to hamper these efforts. We have undertaken an analysis of amyloid \u03b2\u2019s action at excitatory synapses and have identified a previously unrecognized mechanism that drives disease progression in AD, and in doing so have identified new, tractable therapeutic targets.
