{"id":1024,"date":"2020-08-29T10:09:38","date_gmt":"2020-08-29T10:09:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/synergy.st-andrews.ac.uk\/bio-equalityanddiversity\/?p=1024"},"modified":"2023-12-11T15:46:42","modified_gmt":"2023-12-11T15:46:42","slug":"biology-students-win-global-challenges-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/biology.st-andrews.ac.uk\/news\/2020\/08\/29\/biology-students-win-global-challenges-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Biology students win Global Challenges Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>School of Biology students Salma Ali and Radhe Kumar were the winners of this year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.st-andrews.ac.uk\/~wwwir\/globalchallenges\/index.php\">Global Challenges Program<\/a> with their entry \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1epKp37qIBTRmak1yHrbMG0YuFxQkWQgI\/view\">A plan to nurture and maintain a thriving diverse and inclusive community in the University of St. Andrews<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Although the University of St. Andrews is one of the most international universities in the UK, like other elite universities, it has a strikingly low number of BAME (Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority) individuals. \u00a0Salma and Radhe\u2019s report details strategies, tools and recommendations focussing on three key aspects of university life: talent recruitment, talent retainment and continuous self-improvement.
