Women in Work is the only student-run, woman-led society in St Andrews that provides practical, tangible advice and networking opportunities to specifically women students.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">On\u00a0<b class=\"\">5th February 2019<\/b>, Women in Work will host the first event of the semester &#8220;Women In STEM&#8221;. This will take place at Hotel Du Vin, St Andrews, from 6.15pm. The event will be an evening of panel discussion, speeches and Q&amp;A. They will host five eminent, leading women who work in the STEM sectors:<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\n<ul class=\"MailOutline\">\n<li class=\"\">Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell &#8211; Northern Irish astrophysicist who co-discovered the first radio pulsars in 1967.<\/li>\n<li class=\"\">Professor Lesley Yellowlees &#8211; British inorganic chemist and the first woman to hold the role of the president of the Royal Society of Chemistry.<\/li>\n<li class=\"\">Dr Priyanka Joshi &#8211; Biochemist specialising in research on Alzheimer\u2019s disease, originally from India, featured on the Vogue 25 list of the most influential women in the UK.<\/li>\n<li class=\"\">Gen Ashley &#8211; \u2018Coder in Heels\u2019, Director at Women Who Code, Lead at Google WomenTechMakers London.<\/li>\n<li class=\"\">Ewa Magiera &#8211; Head of Communities at Code First Girls<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">The event is proudly sponsored by the School of Biology\u2019s Equality and Diversity Committee, Hotel Du Vin and Accenture.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/450570155393494\/\">Here<\/a> is the Facebook link to the event.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University of St Andrews society Women In Work, which promotes female participation in all careers and seeks to break down socio-economic, ethnic and gender barriers, has organised a Women in STEM event.
