Senior Teaching Technician<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alasdair Stenhouse &#8211; Teaching Technician<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Duncan Laird &#8211; Teaching Technician<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Teaching Technicians Office, Ground Floor, Medical and Biological Sciences Building, North Haugh, St Andrews<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"mailto:bioteachtechMSB@st-andrews.ac.uk\">bioteachtechMSB@st-andrews.ac.uk<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span>Books<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Biology a global approach (Campbell et al., 12th ed.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Practical Skills in Biology (Jones et al., 7th ed.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lab coats<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Available from the <a href=\"https:\/\/universityofstandrewsshop.com\/\">University of St Andrews shop<\/a> with or without elasticated cuffs (please note that students taking chemistry modules must have 100% cotton lab coats, which can also be used for biology).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lab fees<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No lab fees will be charged this year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lab sign up<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Labs are compulsory.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BL1101 labs take place in the Multi-Purpose Lab 153\/154 in the Medical and Biological Sciences Building (MBS) on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 2pm to 5pm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You must select one lab day in either week one, three or four and one in week seven, eight or nine and sign up to it on MMS (<a href=\"http:\/\/mms.st-andrews.ac.uk\/\">http:\/\/mms.st-andrews.ac.uk\/<\/a>) under BL1101.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sign up opens on Friday 12<sup>th<\/sup> September 2025.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When choosing a practical day you must make sure it does not clash with your other modules \u2013 once chosen practical days are <strong>not<\/strong> transferable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be aware that Wednesday is the University\u2019s sports day so do not choose a Wednesday for labs if you want to be involved in sports.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lab attendance and etiquette<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Practicals <strong>start<\/strong> at <strong>2 pm<\/strong> please be punctual.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The attendance sheet at the end of the bench <strong>must<\/strong> be signed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you arrive late, please enter the lab quietly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No eating, drinking or chewing gum is allowed in the lab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lab coats must be worn at all times unless otherwise indicated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bags, jackets etc. should be tucked under the lab bench.
