This event is open to all women & non-binary students in STEM subjects at Scottish Universities and Colleges.
Equate is delighted to be partnering with Opening up Photonics and the St Andrews’ Centre for Biophotonics for our Light & Lasers meetup.
Opening up Photonics is a platform supporting the Scottish photonics industry to discuss, challenge and address as a community, barriers faced by minority groups, with the aim of increasing accessibility, championing diversity, and ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment for all.

Who is Equate Scotland?
Equate Scotland supports gender equality in the STEM and Built Environment sectors. Taking a holistic approach we work with students, women professionals, women returners, employers, academia, and policymakers to effect change and make STEM a more inclusive space.
We do this through creating opportunities for women, supporting inclusive workplaces, and connecting women and employers. Our work includes providing training, experiential learning, and meet-ups between women and potential employers, producing resources, conducting research, and participating in industry networks and events.

Opening up Photonics is a partnership between Photonics Scotland, Glasgow University, the Institute of Physics and KTN.
- Open: Expressions of interest for PDRA fellowship applications at the CoB
The CoB is currently open to expressions of interest for researchers interested in applying for postdoctoral positions hosted at the Centre of Biophotonics under the Marie Curie PDRA scheme and the Royal Society Newton International Fellowship Scheme.
