Mike MacDonald- School of Science and Engineering (Univ. Dundee)
Mike MacDonald gained a BSc in Laser Physics and Optoelectronics from the University of Strathclyde in 1996 followed by an MSc (1998) and PhD (2000), both from Berne University where he developed high-power solid-state lasers. On returning to Scotland, Mike applied his laser development work to the life sciences as a postdoc then advanced fellow at the University of St Andrews between 2000 and 2007, working largely in optical micromanipulation. In 2007 he moved to the University of Dundee where he works closely with the schools of Medicine and Life Sciences as well as with the James Hutton Institute.
